AUGUSTA — Charlene Williams has been promoted to president of Nancy Marshall Communications, an Augusta-based public relations and marketing agency.

The firm announced the change in a news release on Friday.

Founder and CEO Nancy Marshall said in the release that she has worked with Williams for 16 years.

“It is my great pleasure to promote Charlene to the position of president of my agency, and I look forward to seeing her guide the agency into a new era of excellence and innovation,” Marshall said in the release.

Williams managed the Maine Office of Tourism’s public relations contract until recently.

The New York-based Dilenschneider Group beat out Nancy Marshall Communications for the Maine Office of Tourism’s $700,000 contract that began in July. The Augusta firm had done the job for 20 years.

Williams is now overseeing all client strategies and implementation and leading the NMC staff. She and her husband live in Manchester and have two grown children and a granddaughter.
