One must wonder what wisdom comes out of Washington, D.C., these days? Very little in my opinion.

I have a good job with a very large corporation, which has provided great insurance for its employees and families. I just received a letter that says the insurance it offered will no longer be available for me or to the families of thousands of employees.

Under the Affordable Care Act passed by Congress and signed into law by our president, my insurance would be considered a “Cadillac” plan, and the company would be taxed for providing these great benefits.

Therefore, our company’s health insurance benefit plan must be reduced to control costs and to remain profitable. The government’s intention, I’m sure, was to receive tax revenue from these Cadillac plans so it could provide health care coverage to people without insurance.

Instead, it has just put one more burden on thousands of hard-working Americans who were able to provide for themselves and their families with no cost at all to our society.

How can any business or family plan for the future when so much uncertainly and bad policy is coming out of Washington? I still believe America is a exceptional country that could thrive if our politicians would remember the quote of a exceptional man who led our nation in times of national crisis. John F. Kennedy said, “A rising tide will lift all boats.”

Class warfare helps no one and provides no future for our nation’s businesses, nor will it provide a tax base to help the truly needy among us, as American businesses and workers struggle to compete under ever-increasing taxes and regulations brought forth from our federal government.
