FARMINGTON — The ninth annual Maurer Meals, set for Friday, Oct. 18, and Saturday, Oct. 19, will feature 14 locally owned restaurants and one hospital cafe in 11 communities in central and western Maine, according to a press release.

The restaurants will offer menus featuring locally grown food including organic and all natural foods. Proceeds raised will benefit the Justin A. Maurer Memorial Scholarship Fund for a third- or fourth-year University of Maine at Farmington student enrolled in the community health program.

Each year area restaurants serve a variety of dishes created with local foods.

Maurer Meals is organized with the help of the following organizations: Healthy Community Coalition of Greater Franklin County, Healthy Oxford Hills, River Valley Healthy Community Coalition, Greater Somerset Public Health Collaborative, Redington-Fairview General Hospital, Healthy Androscoggin, The University of Maine at Farmington and Western Mountains Alliance.
