A tractor-trailer that hit a utility pole on Route 27 in Belgrade was responsible for a power outage that affected more than 1,000 people early Tuesday morning in Kennebec County, according to a dispatcher for Central Maine Power Co.

The accident occurred around 1 a.m. and power was restored to most of the 1,320 customers that were affected by 7:30 a.m., according to the dispatch office.

Additional information about the accident was not immediately available. A clerk at Christy’s Country Store on Route 27 said this morning that the accident was about a quarter-mile north of the store.

Route 27 between Route 135 and Castle Island Road was closed through mid-morning.
