SOUTH CHINA — Gage Currie scored nine seconds into the first overtime to lift No. 7 Erskine to a 2-1 victory against No. 10 Hermon in an Eastern Maine Class B preliminary-round boys soccer game Saturday.

Erskine played the opening kick of overtime deep to Currie, then the ball bounced off a defender to teammate Joe York who fed Currie cutting toward the goal.

The Hawks scored the first goal midway through the second half on Hunter Clukey’s unassited score. Currie tied the game three minutes later when his free kick deflected off the goalie’s hands.

Erskine goalie Jared Gartley made four saves. Garrett Kippler had eight saves for Hermon.

Erskine (12-3-0)  meets No. 2 Camden Hills in a quarterfinal game Wednesday in Rockport while Hermon finishes at 4-10-1.

No. 4 Presque Isle 3, No. 13 Gardiner 0: Alex Michaud score a goal and added two assists to lead the host Wildcats to the East B prelim win.

Michaud scored in the first half off an assist from Aaron Kofstad then assisted both goals by Ben Nickerson in the second half. Ken Moore made 15 saves in goal for Gardiner (6-8-1) while Cody Luford made two for Presque Isle (12-2-1).

Gardiner drew strong games from Bobby Rose, Josh Caldwell, Alex LaPointe and Moore.

Sacopee Valley 2, Monmouth 0: Jack Reynolds scored midway through the second half, Devon Day added a goal on a direct kick in the final minute, and the eighth-seeded Hawks (8-3-4) edged the ninth-seeded Mustangs (9-6) in a Western Class C prelim at South Hiram.

Mike Pingree earned the shutout with seven saves.
