Mt. Blue senior Josh Horne and Cony freshman Anne Guadalupi won individual titles while several central Maine teams qualified for next week’s state championships at regional high school cross country meets held Saturday.

Horne won the Eastern Maine Class A regional in Belfast in a time of 16 minutes, 12.94 seconds, seven seconds ahead of runner-up Jonathan Stanhope of Bangor. Guadalupi won the Eastern A girls race in 19:05.73, 21 seconds ahead of runner-up Teresa Murphy of Brunswick. The top 40 percent of teams in each class qualify for next Saturday’s state meet at Twin Brook Recreation in Brunswick along with the top 30 finishers combined in each region.

The Mt. Blue boys and girls each qualified in Class A along with the Messalonskee boys. Logan Moses of Messalonskee finished sixth while Mt. Blue’s Dan Lesko placed seventh. Sarah Wade led the Mt. Blue girls with a ninth-place finish. The Erskine boys and Winslow girls each qualified in Class B. Waterville’s Chris Cote placed fourth in the Class B race.

In the Western Maine regional in Belfast, the Maranacook boys and girls teams qualified in Class B, with the boys finishing fifth and the girls sixth. Austin Landry led the boys with a seventh-place finish while Hannah Depres placed 10th for the girls.

In Class C, the Monmouth boys and girls qualified along with Winthrop, Hall-Dale and Madison boys. In the Class C boys race, Winthrop’s Ben Allen finished second while Hall-Dale’s Chris Pomerleau and James McAuliffe placed fifth and seventh, respectively. In the girls race, Hall-Dale’s Emma Wilson finished fourth, Madison’s Aly LeBlanc seventh and Winthrop’s Molly Kieltyka eighth.

Telstar’s Josef Holt recorded the low time of the day in Cumberland, finishing the 3.1 mile course in 15:54.75. Greely’s Kirstin Sandreuter had the low girls time of 19:02.02. In the East regional, Ellsworth’s Dan Curts recorded a best time of 16:00.95 while Ellsworth’s Aleta Looker was best among the girls in 18:54.85.
