PORTLAND — Former U.S. Rep. Barney Frank is one of two keynote speakers at this week’s annual Maine Affordable Housing Conference.

More than 400 industry representatives including builders, real estate agents and money lenders are registered to attend the conference, which takes place Wednesday at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland.

The conference is hosted by the Maine State Housing Authority and the Maine Affordable Housing Coalition and includes panel presentations on Maine’s foreclosure rate and process, federal budget cuts, the housing market’s role in the state’s economy, and efforts to find affordable housing for the homeless.

Frank will deliver one of the keynote addresses. The second keynote speaker is Barbara Poppe, executive director of the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness.
