One man was arrested and another is being sought by police in connection with the theft of three trucks early Wednesday morning from the towns of Liberty and Washington.

Daniel Roy, 27, of Union, was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and violating bail conditions.

The Maine State Police and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office also are seeking Danny Leigh, 34, of Washington, on similar charges, according to a news release from the Maine Department of Public Safety.

A 2002 GMC pickup and a 1999 Western Star tractor cab, both of which were recovered nearby, were stolen from two residences in Liberty along Route 220.

A Toyota pickup truck taken from a home on Crystal Pond Road in Washington is still missing.

Two of the three trucks had the keys inside, according to the release.

State police troopers and sheriff deputies arrested Roy at a mobile home in Washington a few hours after investigating the incident, according to the release. He was taken to the Knox County Jail in Rockland.

Anyone with information on Leigh’s whereabouts is asked to call the Knox County Sheriff’s Office at 594-0429 or the Maine State Police at 624-7076.
