AUGUSTA — Victims of a series of recent home burglaries in the Wayne area will have a chance to recover their stolen items.

Burglary victims can claim their property during a public viewing scheduled for noon to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office at 125 State St.

Lt. Dennis Picard, of the sheriff’s office, said officers will be on hand to help victims identify their stolen items and release them back to the proper owners. Picard asked victims to get a copy of their missing items list from the investigating agency and take the list with them the day of the viewing.

Maj. Ryan Reardon, also of the sheriff’s office, said deputies have identified 55 victims so far in the ongoing investigation. Justin Ross, 36, was charged last month in connection with the burglaries, which police said took place in Wayne, Winthrop, Livermore Falls, Vienna and elsewhere.

The public viewing is being organized by the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office as well as state and Winthrop police.

For information, call Detective Nathan McNally of the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office at 623-3614, ext. 1202.
