I read with dismay the article about the citizens of Augusta wanting to block to construction of a house of worship — Muslim mosque. The United States of America was built on the founding principle of religious freedom — freedom to worship in whatever way ee want to.

I count four families of Muslims among my friends. They are all good, devout people. Too many Americans focus on the horrors of 9/11. The “bad guys” are not all Muslims. They have their fanatics; so do we. Many Ku Klux Klan members are Southern Baptists; does that make all Baptists evil? Some of the most horrific inhumanities to man were done during the Inquisition; does that make all Catholics evil?

Everyone should read something about the the Islam faith; it teaches goodness and peace.

Augusta must not deny good people a place to worship in their own way.
