WATERVILLE — A local woman was arrested early Sunday after police say she hit a woman with a beer bottle at the Bob-In Bar & Lounge and then assaulted a police sergeant.

Carolyn Delgado, 23, of Sherwin Street, is accused of hitting another patron at the Temple Street bar with the bottle around 1 a.m. and then leaving the bar, said Sgt. Lincoln Ryder of the Waterville Police Department.

Sgt. Brian Gardiner found her down the street shortly after she left and when he tried to arrest her, Delgado struck him and grabbed at him, said Ryder.

Along with Gardiner, several other officers responded to the incident, both to help the woman who was hit with the bottle and to assist Gardiner with arresting Delgado.

Delgado had a previous conviction for assault in 2010 in Kennebec County Superior Court for which she was ordered to pay a $300 fine.

She is being charged by Waterville police with aggravated assault, assaulting an officer and refusing to submit to arrest.
