FARMINGTON — Healthy Community Coalition of Greater Franklin County recently announced that Molly Clark, NP has joined the organization as the Let‘s Go program coordinator. Let’s Go. is a nationally recognized childhood obesity prevention program.

The goal of the program is to increase physical activity and healthy eating for children from birth to 18 years of age through policy and environmental change. Let’s Go works in four sectors in Franklin County: early childhood, schools, after school, and health care to reach families where they live, study, work and play to reinforce the importance of healthy eating and active living. Let’s Go, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, and others have engaged in a public-private partnership to improve the health of youth and families.

As the local Let’s Go coordinator, Clark will partner with various community members, including teachers, health care providers, child care providers, and community organizations to bring about environmental and policy changes that support the four healthy habits.

Schools, after school programs, and childcare providers interested in learning more about the program can call 779-2929. Participants that sign on before Friday will receive technical assistance, invitations to learning opportunities, free toolkits, and more. For more information on Let’s Go, visit www.letsgo.org.

Clark is a family nurse practitioner who received her master’s degree from the University of Vermont College of Nursing and Health Services in Burlington. Before that, she received a master’s degree in natural resources from the University of Vermont and a bachelor’s degree from Colby College. She brings her experience with agriculture, the environment and health to the position.
