Congratulations to Heather Perry, superintendent of RSU 3, and the Kennebec Valley Superintendents Association for their recent high school expo demonstrating student accomplishments in Kennebec Valley area high schools.

Even though we know our schools are doing good things, it is important to showcase students’ accomplishments to the public. These positive presentations not only help to correct the recently negative, distorted picture of education in politically motivated rants, they also are important for students’ growth, confidence and pride.

These events also provide indirect recognition and encouragement of the teachers of these students, when they see the fruits of their labor receiving public acclaim. Combine these and you have a formula for spiraling success in schools.

High praise to Perry, members of KVSA, principals, teachers and, of course, students.
