ALBANY, N.Y. — Monmouth Academy graduate Jenn Lola scored a game-high 39 points en route to two school records as the University of Maine at Augusta downed Pennsylvania College 96-50 in women’s college basketball action Sunday.
Lola set a UMA women’s record for most points in a game as well as most 3-pointers with eight. She also grabbed nine rebounds and had four assists. Teammate Arreonte Lee scored 28 points and hauled in 21 rebounds. Courtney Jicks added 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Moose while Richmond graduate Jamie Plummer scored 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
Danielle Mowery led Pennsylvania College(0-2) with 20 points. UMA is 3-1.
UMPI 55, Thomas 44: Olivia McNally led three players in double figures as the University of Maine at Presque Isle won on its home court at the Star City Classic. McNally scored 13 points, Rebecca Campbell 12 and Kristen Thompson 10 for the Owls (2-0).
Morgan Hutchins led Thomas (0-2) with 10 points while Lexi Merrifield scored nine and Emilee Reynolds eight.
Men’s basketball
Bates 75, UMF 54: Mike Boomazian scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Bobcats to the non-conference win in Lewiston. Graham Safford added 12 points and eight assists for the Bobcats (2-0).
Pet Sumner led the University of Maine at Farmington (1-1) with 16 points while Andrew Dickey scored nine and Maranacook graduate Ben Johnson had eight in addition to grabbing 10 rebounds.
Women’s hockey
Vermont 5, Maine 1: Brittany Zuback scored a goal and had two assists to lead the Catamounts in Orono. Eve Boissonneault scored for the Black Bears. Meaghann Treacy made 32 saves in goal for Maine (0-9-3) while Roxanne Douville made 21 for Vermont (5-6-2).
Men’s hockey
Middlebury 7, Colby 1: Derek Pimental and Jake Charles scored two goals to lead the Panthers to the win in Middlebury, Vt. Twelve players registered a goal or an assist for the Panthers, who outshot the Mules 41-13. Ray Zeek scored for Colby assisted by Nick Lanza. Mike Peters made 12 saves in goal for Middlebury (1-0-1) while Sam Parker and Ben Csiernik combined for 34 saves for Colby (0-1-1).
Cross country
The Colby cross country team is headed to the NCAA Div. III championships after earning an at-large selection Sunday. Led by David Chelimo and Silas Eastman, Colby finished sixth out of 50 teams Saturday at the New England Div. III meet. The NCAA took the top six for the championships scheduled Saturday in Hanover, Ind.
Also Sunday: Mt. Blue graduate Gabby Foy scored 26 points to lead Central Maine Community College to a 108-72 win against Vermont Tech.
