All of the outrage over the rocky startup of Healthcare.gov is either ignorant or politically motivated. Ignorant because the world of software is a messy one at best. New software almost always has problems that have to be ironed out as they are discovered.

An excellent example of this is the rollout of Microsoft’s new operating system update 8.1. It has been plagued with problems for the last month, many of which have still not been resolved. Problems including the “blue screen of death” on some computers, which prompted Microsoft to remove access to the update for a few days. All of this by a company that is considered among the most sophisticated and competent in the software industry.

And so we should not be surprised or dismayed with the problems encountered on Healthcare.gov. That is unless we are trying to make political mileage because we hate the government and everything it tries to do to help people.
