SACO — Volunteers in Maine are preparing baskets for families in need so they can enjoy a Thanksgiving meal this year.

The Good Shepherd Parish church in Saco is putting baskets together for more than 100 families that live in Saco, Biddeford, Old Orchard Beach and Lyman.

The parish says it’s been collecting food and monetary donations for weeks. The volunteers will finish the baskets on Sunday.

The Most Holy Trinity Church Hall in Saco will also be hosting its annual Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. The free event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. People can also receive home delivered meals between noon and 2 p.m.
