AUBURN — The Husson University student allegedly slain by a fellow student is being laid to rest.

A funeral service for 21-year-old Brooke Locke is scheduled for Monday at the Fortin Funeral Home in Auburn.

Locke was remembered at a candlelight vigil on campus on Sunday organized by her Epsilon Tau Epsilon sorority sisters.

About 150 students, staff and faculty including school president Robert Clark attended. The occupational therapy major was remembered as a warm and generous person.

Zachery Mailloux of Bangor has been charged with murder in Locke’s death.

Bangor police said they found Locke’s body Nov. 18 while responding to a complaint of domestic violence. She had been strangled.

The two shared an apartment.

The 21-year-old Mailloux was also a Husson student. He is being held without bail.
