STAFF REPORT

BREWER — Chris Lee and Dalton Henderson each scored goals to lead Waterville to a 2-0 win against Brewer in Class B East boys hockey action Wednesday night.

Lee and Nick Denis each added assists for Waterville (5-1-1). Panthers goalie Kaleb Kane had 30 saves.

Tyler Frield had 28 saves for Brewer (4-2-1).

GIRLS HOCKEY

EDWARD LITTLE/LEAVITT 1, WINSLOW 0: Taylor Landry scored with just under three minutes left in the second period and the Red Hornets hung on to win the East Division game at Sukee Arena.

EL/Leavitt (9-2-0), which came in sitting atop the division, controlled play but couldn’t put Winslow (2-10-0) away.

“The girls dug down and played hard,” Winslow coach Chris Downing said. “It was a heck of a game.”

Jess Cain had 40 saves for the Black Raiders. Tori anford had eight saves for the Red Hornets.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

MADISON 61, WINTHROP 17: Aly LeBlanc scored 16 points to lead the Bulldogs to the MVC win in Winthrop.

Cristie Vicneire added 14 points for Madison (6-3).

Winthrop (0-9) was led by Randi Dennett with six points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Spruce Mountain 80, Mt. Abram 45: Anthony York had 17 points and Peter Theriault had 16 as the Phoenix beat the Roadrunners in an MVC game in Salem.

John McKenna added 11 points and Austin Couture added 10 for Spruce Mountain (8-2).

Danny Luce had 19 points, while Amos Withee had 17 points, including five 3-pointers for Mt. Abram (1-7). The game was stopped with 1:42 left in the fourth quarter when Mt. Abram chose not to play with four players after four players fouled out.

WINTHROP 46, MADISON 43: Taylor Morang scored 13 points and added seven assists and four steals to lead the Ramblers to the MVC win in Winthrop.

The Ramblers jumped out to a 13-6 first-quarter lead but never was able to shake the Bulldogs who outscored them 16-14 in the fourth quarter. Matt Skerak added 12 points for Winthrop (8-2) while Derek LeBlanc led Madison (5-3) with nine points.
