Skowhegan Savings has awarded a $10,000 gift to Friends of Lithgow Library, Inc., an organization that supports Augusta’s historic Lithgow Public Library and Reading Room. Its latest campaign is to fund, along with the city of Augusta, a renovation and expansion project that will preserve the 1896-structure and include the construction of an addition that will more than double the library’s functional space, with additional space for children’s reading and learning activities as well as a dedicated space for teens. From left are Wick Johnson, co-chairman of the Capital Campaign; Elizabeth Pohl, library director; John Witherspoon, Skowhegan Savings president and chief executive officer; and Meghan Loubier, manager of the bank’s Augusta branch. The next Capital Campaign fundraiser will be a pie sale from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at the library. There will be a variety of homemade pies, including apple, pumpkin, pecan, chocolate cream and blueberry.
