Germany’s Hellabrunn Zoo released a video showing two polar bear cubs opening their eyes and seeing their mother’s face.

Through cameras in the bears’ enclosure, the Munich zoo has monitored the twins’ growth since their birth last month, the Huffington Post reported Wednesday. The zoo posts footage from several zoo cams, including pictures of polar bear mother Giovanna and her cubs.

Polar bear cubs are surprisingly small. They are only about 1 foot long and weigh about 1 pound when they are born, according to Polar Bears International. They are lightly furred so to stay warm they must snuggle with their mother.
