BANGOR — Red Sox fans who’re members of the military are getting a special viewing of the 2013 World Series trophy courtesy of one of the team’s big fans — author Stephen King.
Stephen and Tabitha King and Operation Community Support teamed up for the private event for military personnel Sunday before public events in Bangor and Orono. The Kings paid for “Red Sox Nation North” T-shirts, and Boston Red Sox third base coach Brian Butterfield, a native of Orono, is attending the event.
The 2013 trophy, along with championship trophies from 2004 and 2007, are going on public display after the private event at the Cross Center in Bangor. Another event is planned at the University of Maine’s Alfond Arena.
