AUGUSTA — A former Jefferson woman was sentenced Friday following a jury conviction a week ago on charges of driving under the influence and felony aggravated criminal mischief.

Mary K. Testerman, 47, now of Augusta, struck a Hallowell police cruiser on the driver’s side last Feb. 16, on Water Street in Hallowell, injuring police and animal control officer Chris Martinez and causing $14,000 damage to the cruiser, according to court records.

Justice Michaela Murphy, who presided at the trial which was also in Kennebec County Superior Court, sentenced Testerman to three years in jail with all but six months suspended and two years’ probation. She was also fined $1,000.

Testerman remains free on bail pending an appeal in the case.
