Carrabec High School student, Kobe Cancel, of Anson, will compete in the northern regional Poetry Outloud competition at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at the Minsky Recital Hall, University of Maine, Orono. Cancel won his class and school wide competitions and will present three memorized poems at the regional festival for a panel of highly qualified judges. This national contest was created to encourage you to learn about poetry through memorization and recitation. The program helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about their literary heritage.
