WATERVILLE — A city man was arrested Friday after he allegedly punched a man on College Avenue and took money from him.

Paul Burnham, 38, of Elm Street, was arrested after police received a report from the victim that Burnham, who knew him, had punched him in the face. Burnham also kicked the man in the stomach, took $50 out of his hand and left the area, according to Waterville police Sgt. Lincoln Ryder.

The victim suffered a minor cut near his right eye that did not need medical attention, Ryder said.

Police later found Burnham behind the Goodwill store at The Concourse and arrested him on three warrants and on charges of robbery and assault, Ryder said.

Burnham was taken to the Kennebec County jail in Augusta, where he did not furnish $2,000 cash bail.

Burnham has a court date in Augusta District Court on March 11.
