WATERVILLE — City councilors on Tuesday plan to consider voting to support continued exploration of solid waste disposal options after the city’s contract with Penobscot Energy Recovery Co. in Orrington expires in 2018.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the council chambers at The Center downtown.
In other matters, councilors will consider approving a letter of collaboration between the city and state Department of Environmental Protection to clean up lagoons on West River Road.
The lagoons, located across the road from Trafton Properties, contain sediment with a concentration of heavy metals left there many years ago when the former Wyandotte Mill processed wool. The water in the lagoons continues to meet drinking water quality standards, according to City Manager Michael Roy.
