CARRABASSETT VALLEY— Snowboarders are testing their speed and agility in a competition hosted by Seth Wescott.
Wescott, a two-time Olympic gold medalist who grew up in Maine, is among those organizing the Sugarloaf Banked Slalom event that kicks off on Saturday.
The competition is only for snowboarders who will weave between poles on a course that snakes through the snow.
Slalom is an event originally for skiers. Sugarloaf says it is one of the first locations to host such a competition for snowboarding. This is the fourth year the annual event has been held and the organizers expect top snowboarders to compete for bragging rights and medals.
