AUGUSTA — The Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta will get a $1.5 million federal grant to add buildings and make other improvements.

The federal Department of Veterans Affairs’ grant will fund the construction of an administration building, committal service shelter and additional landscaping, irrigation and other infrastructure, in a project to be developed on 1.2 acres, according to a news release from U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King.
