SIDNEY — Sidney’s Memorial Day Parade will begin at 10 a.m. Monday. It will begin at Transfer Station Drive and end at the town office, where there will be a ceremony to rededicate the town’s memorial site, laying of the wreath, and an awards presentation. Paving bricks with Sidney veterans names inscribed will be on display.

Veterans are invited to step out proudly and march in the parade, share camaraderie and receive recognition and thanks for their service from the community. Antique cars will also be featured in the parade and veterans who cannot march may ride. Those veterans who can are encouraged to wear their uniforms.

Following the memorial ceremonies, a community celebration will be held to present Spirit of America Foundation Tributes to three deserving individuals who have volunteered many service hours within the community. There will be a barbecue with hamburgers, hot dogs and some free snack items. Baked goods will be available for a small donation. Restroom facilities will be available at the town hall and the Grange. Some seating will be available but it is best to bring a lawn chair.

A bagpiper and vocalists will participate in the morning festivities as well as the town’s fire and rescue departments. A sit-down band from the middle school will play and the local dance group will perform.
