Skowhegan’s Memorial Day Parade will begin at 10 a.m. Monday. Veteran groups, little league teams, community bands, ATVs, classic cars, fire trucks and more will partitcipate. This year’s grand marshal will be Roberta Knowles, longtime supporter of this event and wife of the late Royce Knowles, who organized this event for decades.

Flags will be distributed prior to the event.

Parade line-up begins at 9:15 a.m. on Dyer Street. Political candidates for national, state and local seats are encouraged to attend and will be permitted to walk in the parade and wear a pin identifying who they are. No other political signs will be allowed as the focus of the event will be on the veterans.

The parade will begin at the intersection of Dyer Street and U.S. Route 201, proceed south, intersecting with Water Street, proceed through downtown to Skowhegan Veterans Park where a ceremony will be held.
