WEST STEWARTSTOWN, N.H. – The Maine businessman interested in redeveloping the Balsams Grand Resort in New Hampshire said the plan is to spend more than $100 million by 2016 to make it a world-class resort.
The Balsams in Dixville Notch, where the nation’s first presidential primary ballots are traditionally cast, closed in 2010 after nearly 150 years in business.

Dan Dagess and Dan Hebert, who bought it in 2011, entered into an agreement with Les Otten, founder of the American Skiing Co. and former part owner of the Boston Red Sox.
WMUR-TV reported that Otten said Thursday he wants to expand skiing.
He said his vision is for a campus, including 1,000 four-star hotel rooms and using farms and produce from the area.
He said there’s the potential for more than 1,500 new jobs.
