WATERVILLE — Hospice Volunteers of Waterville Area recently added eight new certified Hospice Volunteers to its Direct Care Volunteer program. The volunteers recently attended 23 hours of intensive training earned Direct Care certification, according to a HVWA press release.

Direct Care volunteers provide compassionate non-medical care and support to individuals and their families during the last phases of life.

“Our new Hospice Volunteers are a fantastic group of people,” said Bridget Ryan, volunteer coordinator, in the release. “These trainees are very compassionate and caring and want to give back to their communities as hospice volunteers. The diversity of this group is impressive; we have young and old, students and retirees. We are pleased that they will now be part of our hospice team and we are looking forward to working with them.”
