OXFORD — The Oxford Dragway will close for the season due to declining revenues and personnel problems.

The Sun Journal reports all events at the racetrack are canceled except the Show, Shine, and Drag race on June 13. The track was scheduled for about a dozen events.

Owners say no decision has been made about the future of the track, which is 45 years old.

President Mike Mayberry said the track’s managers could not “organize and run it the way we wanted to.” A post on the company’s website recently said the track does not have workers who can help operate the drag strip for the weekly racing season. Mayberry also told the Sun Journal that the track “wasn’t really making money.”
