MADISON — Emily McKenney struck out nine and allowed just three hits to lead the Madison softball team past Winthrop 3-0 in the Mountain Valley Conference championship game Thursday afternoon.

Madison scored two runs in the second inning and another in the sixth to silence the Ramblers.

Savanna Kandiko went 2 for 3 with a triple and a run scored. Kirsten Wood and Erin Whalen each drove in runs for Madison as well.

Kayla Bess went 3 for 4 for Madison, which improved to 20-5.

Kayleigh O’Berg and Alyssa Arsenault had singles for the Ramblers.
