EAST VASSALBORO — The Vassalboro Historical Society, 327 Main St., will host a talk “The Oakland Edge Tool Industry,” by Howard Hardy of the Oakland Historical Society, at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 17.

Hardy has a passion for collecting axes and scythes. He began collecting on a small scale more than 20 years ago. The hobby grew into doing research into the tool manufacturing process. Each tool has a story behind it that Hardy wanted to learn about and pass on to others.

Hardy is vice-president of the Oakland Historical Society. He has a workshop in Hinckley, a former antique store.

This free presentation is open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
