MOUNT VERNON — The Three-Community Transportation Committee, sponsored by the Mount Vernon Community Partnership, has received a $6,500 planning grant from the Maine Community Foundation.

The committee’s goal is to provide transportation to elderly residents or those in need of transportation assistance in Mount Vernon, Fayette and Vienna.

The grant will be used to hire a consultant to help develop a strategic plan, engage residents in the planning process through public forums and other communications avenues and prepare a first-year operations plan, according to a news release.

Consultants, preferably with expertise in transportation issues, can submit resumes with an accompanying letter until 5 p.m. Thursday, July 31. For more information, email scwright@fairpoint.net.
