AUGUSTA — Dalton Wood struck out 11 batters to lead Central Maine to a 9-7 win over Tri-County in the 15U Babe Ruth tournament on Friday at the Cara Complex.

Central Maine will play Auburn, which defeated Augusta later in the day, in the winner’s bracket Saturday at noon.

Wood also smacked a double for Central Maine.

Hunter Day, Mason Henley and Gunnar Harriman each had doubles for Tri-County.

AUBURN 2, AUGUSTA 1, 8 INNINGS: Damien St. Pierre plated Jarod Norcross-Plourde from second base with a base hit to centerfield in the eighth inning to give Auburn a win over Augusta in the 15U Babe Ruth tournament.

Auburn moves on to play Central Maine in the winner’s bracket today, while Augusta will play Tri-County in the consolation round.

Norcross-Plourde added a triple for Auburn.

Brady Smith had a double for Augusta.

LEWISTON 7, APPLE VALLEY 2: Lewiston, the Area 1 champ, advanced in the winner’s bracket after drubbing Area 3 champ Apple Valley at Windham High School. Lewiston will play Portland at 11 a.m. Saturday. Apple Valley will try and stave off elimination when it faces Windham at 2 p.m.

WINDHAM 10, AUGUSTA 9: Windham rallied late to pull out an opening round win at Hippach Field in Farmington.

Windham will play either Franklin County or Apple Valley in a winner’s bracket game Saturday at 1 p.m.
