ANSON — Residents voted Tuesday night to approve spending $33,000 from the town’s property reserve fund to make a payment on a new town office building.

The payment was approved by a 53-18 ballot vote, according to Triss Smith, the town’s administrative assistant.

The 5 Kennebec St. building is scheduled to be paid off over three years for a total cost of $100,000.

Smith said any renovations will probably not be made until after the building is fully owned by the town.

The town has not decided yet what will happen to the old town office at 62 Main St., which was plagued with mold, sewer gas leaks, rodent and other issues for the last year.
