An Arundel man was severely injured when the motorcycle he was driving left the roadway and hit a utility pole Wednesday evening.

The York County Sheriff’s Office said the accident occurred around 6 p.m. along Old Post Road near Route 1 in Arundel.

Sheriff’s deputies and Arundel Fire and Rescue personnel responding to the scene found Shawn Biggar, 47, conscious but severely injured. He was transported to Maine Medical Center where his condition was last reported as non-life threatening.

The York County Sheriff’s Office will continue to investigate the crash. Speed is considered to be a factor. Biggar was not wearing a helmet.
