A Gardiner resident is one of two central Maine men arrested last week on child pornography charges.
Barry Williams, 59, of 65 High Holborn St., was arrested on a charge of possessing sexually explicit material of someone under the age of 12, said Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland. Williams was taken to the Kennebec County jail.
Police also arrested Thomas Williams, 68, of 8 Kingman St. in Fairfield on the same charge. He posted bail from the Fairfield Police Station last week, McCausland said.
The men are not related and their arrests follow separate investigations, McCausland said. The cases are in no way connected.
The men were arrested after State Police Computer Crime Unit investigators examined their computers, McCausland said. None of the images were of Maine children.
Barry Williams works for a convenience store in Chelsea and Thomas Williams works for a homeless shelter in the Fairfield area, McCausland said.
