SOMERVILLE

July 23 a 2009 GMC Sierra being driven east on Rockland Road by a 73-year-old Islesboro man went off the left side of the road where it hit a ditch. The driver told police he swerved to avoid a vehicle passing him on the right.

Thursday a 1997 Ford Ranger being driven east on Rockland Road by a 58-year-old Somerville woman was hit from behind by a 2013 Kia Optima as the Ranger started to turn onto Crummit Mountain Road. The crash occurred as the Kia passed the Ranger on the left.

Friday a 2014 Toyota Prius being driven west on Rockland Road by a 76-year-old West Gardiner man hit a deer.

WHITEFIELD

Monday a 2005 Subaru Legacy being driven south on Palmer Road by a 63-year-old Whitefield man went off the road and up an embankment when the driver fell asleep.

Arrests

AUGUSTA

Monday at 2:17 p.m., Teresa L. Thomas, 43, of Augusta, was arrested on a warrant by police responding to a report of a domestic disturbance on Winthrop Street.

Tuesday at 2:04 a.m., Anthony Dow Jr., 23, of Augusta, was arrested on charges of theft, sale and use of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana, by police responding to a complaint at Circle K on Capitol Street.

DRESDEN

Saturday Mason J. Varnum, 23, of Dresden, was arrested on charges of domestic violence assault and violating conditions of release on Middle Road.
