HINCKLEY — The L.C. Bates Museum has programs the whole family can enjoy this month — from solar viewing to a Teddy Bear Tea party, from Meteorite and Moth Night to insect walks.

August’s activities include:

• Weekly sun viewings at a small observatory 1-3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.

• Art afternoons Wednesdays Aug. 6, 13 and 20.

• Solar viewing talk a nationally recognized expert on solar viewing, Stephen Ramsden. 7:15 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8. He will also guide solar viewing on the telescope from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, and Saturday, Aug. 9.

• Teddy Bear Tea 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9.

• Moths, the moon and meteors, 8 p.m., Saturdaym Aug. 9. Rain date 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10.

• Frog Day 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16.

• Fossils and dinosaurs exploration 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23.

• Thoreau the futurist and the emerging human 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27.

• Make fish prints 10 a.m. Saturday Aug. 30.

S. Route 201 in Hinckley, on the campus of Good Will-Hinckley. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, with other times available by appointment.
