The University of New England has postponed a trip by students and faculty to Ghana because of concerns about an outbreak of Ebola in Africa.
Dr. Dora Anne Mills, vice president for clinical affairs, says it’s unlikely that any of the 38 students and eight faculty members would have come into contact with the deadly virus. But she says there are health concerns for UNE staff as well as concerns about being a burden on colleagues in Ghana as the outbreak remains out of control.
The UNE team was supposed to leave Monday for the medical trip that has been run for the last 15 years.
Officials hope the trip can take place later, after the outbreak is under control.
