AUGUSTA — Firefighters spent a few hours Monday night dousing a fire at the Hatch Hill landfill off South Belfast Avenue.

Augusta Fire Deputy Chief David Groder said nobody was injured and there was no property damage in the blaze, which broke out shortly before 6 p.m.

Crews spent about three hours fighting the fire. Windsor and Chelsea were called to help with the effort, Groder said.

Groder said the cause of the fire, which broke out after hours, is unknown and will not be investigated because it caused no injury or property loss.
