The National Weather Service on Tuesday issued a hazardous weather outlook for parts of Maine and New Hampshire for showers and thunderstorms that could produce hail and gusty winds through early evening.
At 6:21 p.m. the storm system was centered over Freeport. It is expected to affect areas around Cousins Island, North Yarmouth, Harpswell, Pownal, Topsham, Brunswick and Freeport.
The weather service said heavy downpours, hail, lightning and gusty winds of 45 to 55 mph could be expected.
Minor flooding is possible.
Boaters were warned to seek safe harbor.
