Two escape swamped canoe on Echo Lake

Firefighters from several communities and game wardens responded Thursday afternoon to a report of a swamped canoe on Echo Lake in Fayette.

Two people were spotted in the water, but made it to an island where they are staying in a camp, according to reports. No injuries were reported and no rescue was necessary.

A swamped canoe was reported around 2:40 p.m. near Turtle and Echo islands. People were spotted in the water but made it to shore safely on their own.

10:37 p.m., a person was reported missing from Washington Street.

Thursday at 12:50 a.m., a domestic disturbance was reported on Amherst Street.

1:15 a.m., a burglar alarm sounded on Oak Street.

4:55 a.m., there was a traffic complaint on North Belfast Avenue.

Wednesday at 5:47 p.m., there was a report of threatening on Maine Avenue.

Wednesday at 1:33 p.m., a scam was reported on Watson Heights Road.

Thursday at 5:33 a.m., a car hit a deer on Richmond Road.

MANCHESTER

Wednesday at 1:34 p.m., there was an accident on Readfield Road.

PITTSTON

Wednesday at 5:28 p.m., there was a report of a traffic offense on Wiscasset Road.

5:43 p.m., there was an accident on Wiscasset Road.

RANDOLPH

Wednesday at 3:50 p.m., theft was reported on Third Street.

5:03 p.m., there was an accident on the Gardiner/Randolph bridge.

VASSALBORO

Wednesday at 4:24 p.m., suspicious activity was reported on Gray Road.

WEST GARDINER

Wednesday at 6:27 p.m., there was a report of a rollover crash in the northbound lane of Interstate 95 near mile marker 104.

ARRESTS

AUGUSTA

Wednesday at 5:57 p.m., Darvent Emanuel Cummings, 23, of Augusta, was arrested on a charge of fugitive from justice on Water Street.

Thursday at 12:05 a.m., Charles Douglas Buckingham, 54, of Augusta, was arrested on a charge of aggravated domestic assault by police responding to a complaint on Summer Haven Road.
