Minor injury was reported after a crash on Memorial Circle sent one car careening into the yard of Penney Memorial United Baptist Church in Augusta.

Deputy Chief Jared Mills said the crash on the west side rotary occurred around 10:30 a.m., when two cars hit each other. One of the cars veered onto Water Street, hitting a sign and a light pole, before coming to a rest near the steps in front of the church.

Mills said one person was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

Firefighters said the section of Water Street was closed to traffic for nearly an hour.
