CASCO — Four active-duty Navy SEALs swam the length of Sebago Lake on Thursday to raise money to send dozens of military families to Camp Sunshine, a retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses.

Thursday’s 13-mile endurance swim was part of an effort to raise about $100,000 – enough to bring 40 or more military families to Camp Sunshine next year.

The SEALs set out from Veterans Memorial Park at Routes 302 and 85 in Raymond at about 5:30 a.m.

They swam 6.5 miles to the southern tip of Frye Island, around the island, then 6.5 miles to Point Sebago.
