BANGOR — The three-day American Folk Festival is drawing to a close in Bangor with a variety of acts including Native American dancers from Maine and a dance group from Brazil that mixes dance, martial arts and acrobatics.

Blues, R&B and even an Iranian folk band were on hand Sunday for the finale.

Tens of thousands of people attend the annual event on the Bangor waterfront.

The event grew out of the National Folk Festival hosted in Bangor from 2002 to 2004. Residents enjoyed it so much that they launched the American Folk Festival the following year in 2005.
