AUGUSTA — The annual Bug Maine-ia event is set for 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at Maine State Museum. The event introduces participants to insects of all kinds; from honeybees to giant millipedes. Insect enthusiasts and experts will be on hand to guide you through the expansive, yet often itsy-bitsy world of these creepy crawlies.
Check out a display of exotic butterflies, predict winter with fuzzy caterpillars, or hold a tarantula. Bug Maine-ia flies in for one day only; free admission.
Schools, homeschools and other groups should schedule in advance at mainestatemuseum.org/learn/bug_maine-ia_and_maine_earth_science_day/.
Museum hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday , 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.
