Many members of our community worry about heating their homes and keeping up with utility bills. I’d like to invite readers to attend the second annual energy expo at Madison Memorial High School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday to learn about practical energy solutions that can save them money.

This free event will provide information regarding weatherization, energy efficiency and other money-saving options from a range of industry experts, businesses and organizations.

Affordable energy is an incredibly important issue to our community. With some of the country’s oldest homes, harsh winters and a tough economy, Mainers know the challenges of high energy costs.

I am organizing this event for a second year to ensure my constituents have access to the most up-to-date information about energy efficiency and alternative energy. There are a range of practical energy solutions, and residents can make the best decision for their family or business when informed about the resources and options available.

Topics will include energy audits, weatherization, alternative energy sources such as biomass and solar, net energy billing, efficient hot water and heating systems and more, as well as resources to help finance energy updates.

Last year’s event was a great success. I look forward to helping even more people save money on their energy bills by connecting them to helpful resources and useful information this year.
